Assessment of Risk Associated with Coastal Change
Based on information from the Coastal Vulnerability Index it is possible to assign levels of risk to the coast and with that an assessment of the likely human and environmental impact. The purpose of the assessment is to ensure that decision-makers consider those impacts before deciding whether to proceed with new projects as well as prepare for possible damages that may occur.
